چکیده

Turbulence data is analysed with time series analysis. The data was measured in a shallow flow facility with Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA). A regularly sampled signal is extracted from the irregular LDA-data using Nearest Neighbor Resampling (NNR). NNR is used because it is robust and provides an unbiased estimate of the variance. From the resampled signal a time series model is estimated. The advantage of time series modelling is that the amount of detail in the spectrum is determined automatically. Order selection can be tuned to find the most accurate model for the signal properties at a timescale of interest. The model error is used to determine whether the difference between two estimates is statistically significant.

HIGH RESOLUTION LASER SPECTROSCOPY IN COLD SUPERSONIC MOLECULAR BEAMS COOLING, REDUCTION OF DOPPLER WIDTH AND APPLICATION

The cooling of molecules during the adiabatic expansion of supersonic seeded molecular beams is reviewed and illustrated by the example of NO -molecules. The reduction of the Doppler width by collimation of the beam and the cooling to low rotational temperatures brings a significant simplification of the complex NO -absorption spectrum and allows its assignment. The measured rotational tem...

LDA Experimental Data of Three-Poster Jet Impingement System

During its near-ground hovering phase a Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) aircraft creates a complex three-dimensional flow field between jet streams, the airframe surface and the ground. A proper understanding and numerical prediction of this flow is important in the design of such aircraft. In this paper an experimental facility, used to gather validation data suitable for testing C...

Reliable LDA-spectra by resampling and ARMA-modeling

Laser-Doppler Anemometry (LDA) is used to measure the velocity of gases and liquids with observations irregularly spaced in time. Equidistant resampling turns out to be better than slotting techniques. After resampling, two ways of spectral estimation are compared. The first estimate is a windowed periodogram and the second is the spectrum of a time series model. That is an estimated autoregres...

Realization of Air-borne Sound pressure unit with LDA technique by Spectrum and autocorrelation method in a travelling wave tube

To realize the sound pressure unit directly, the method of sound pressure measurement based on acoustic particle velocity with LDA technique was described. In order to get a simple acoustic field, a travelling wave tube was designed. The sound pressure distribution obtained by microphone along the tube was measured. The result showed the acoustic field inside the tube could be considered as tra...
